CPM Toolkit Community Edition

Continuous Performance Management (CPM) is the practice of managing the performance profile of an application under development; measuring the impact of code changes against deviations in the application’s behaviour.  

The DSI built CPM Toolkit introduces Continuous Performance Management into a Continuous Integration environment. CPM Toolkit automates the collection of performance, memory usage and code coverage data to to facilitate the practice of CPM with the development phase  

DSI have released a Community Editon of the CPM Toolkit, allowing users to gain access to the analytical capability of the CPM Toolkit - for free!

What is the CPM Toolkit Commuinity Edition?

• The CPM Toolkit CE provides the functionality as laid out in Quest Software’s series of whitepapers on the topic.
• It automates the collection of performance, memory usage and code coverage data.
• It allows the user to focus effort in tracing measurable code defects; reducing time spent investigating false positives and preventing premature optimisation.

How the CPM Toolkit CE differs from the CPM Toolkit 1.2?

The CPM Toolkit CE does not contain the following functionality as provided in the full version of the CPM Toolkit.  

• The CPM Toolkit Graphical User Interface
• Trending
• Automated alert notification generation
• The CPM Toolkit CE is limited to running on a maximum of 2 CPU Cores

Technical Notes

The CPM Toolkit CE currently supports JProbe versions 7.0.x and 8.0.x. We are currently working on support for version 8.1. If you require immediate 8.1 support, please drop cpm@decaresystems.ie a line or leave a message on the CPM Forum.

If you are running JProbe 8.0.x, you will need to install the jprobe_hotfix_79516 (.bin or .exe). This will create a cpm folder in your JProbe installation directory. These files are required by the CPM Toolkit for it to work with version 8.0.x.

You can install simply by doubling clicking on the .exe. or .bin file, or if you prefer you can install from the command line by adding a -c flag to the command e.g.

  cpmtoolkit-ce_windows-1.2.exe -c

Note: In the case of Windows XP, you must use the following command:

  start /wait cpmtoolkit-ce_windows-1.2.exe -c
