In addition, users can explore the renowned Fota Island Resort and its surroundings with a gallery of photos.
iPhone applications run on both the iPhone and iPod touch as well as the new iPad tablet, which have a combined user base of over 50 million worldwide so this app will capitalise on that growing user base, both domestically and internationally.
General Manager at Fota Island Hotel & Spa, John O’Flynn, is thrilled to announce these latest technological advancements,
“At Fota Island Resort we’ve always tried to stay ahead of the pack and we’re delighted to offer the iPhone and iPod touch app to make the resort even more convenient for both our loyal customers and those looking to visit for the first time. As Apple is currently based in Cork, it’s quite fitting that Ireland’s first independent hotel to launch this application is a Cork hotel.”
The new iPhone app is powered by DeCare Systems Ireland, a Cork based enterprise software development company that provides unique, customer-specific, end-to-end eBusiness solutions.
“As the adoption of mobile and social media applications in this sector continues to increase, our solution gives independent hotels and smaller chains an opportunity to compete with large hotel chains in this space”, said John Murphy, General Manager of DeCare Systems Ireland. “Using DSI’s mobile platform, the Fota Island Resort iPhone app leverages iPhone-specific features to offer a rich, interactive user experience for their guests.”
This mobile channel complements Fota Island Resort's existing channels, offering another touch point for guests and prospective visitors, along with Fota Island Resort’s Twitter, Facebook and blog resources. Posting regular updates from the Spa, Golf Academy and Fota Island’s chefs, these social media resources will keep you up to date on exercise and treatments, golf practice and all you need to know on local and seasonal food.
