DSI and i21 Present The Spring Workshop 2006

(Cork, Ireland) October 12, 2006 — DeCare Systems Ireland (DSI), the leading provider of software development and Internet Solutions, and the founders of Spring, Interface21 (i21) , today announced they will present the first Spring Workshop event aimed exclusively for the Irish Public Sector.

Taking place on the 23rd November in the O’Callaghan Mont Clare Hotel in Dublin, speakers will demonstrate the latest Spring Framework features in a workshop setting, focusing on sharing the latest insights on Spring with the public sector. Sessions will be led by core developer of the open source Spring Framework and Principal Consultant at i21, Rob Harrop. Rob, author of the bestseller ‘Pro Spring’, has extensive experience leading successful UK government and public sector projects for the Department of Trade and Industry UK, London Metropolitan Police, National Union of Students UK and others.

Also presenting at the half-day workshop are DSI’s Chief Technical Architect, Yagiz Erkan and Process Architect, Brendan Lawlor. Recently presenting at SpringOne, Yagiz and Brendan will share their experiences and discuss the practicalities of using the Spring Framework on real world projects.

The three presenters will cover the following areas:

“System Governance and Architecture: The Spring Experience in UK Government Systems” – Rob Harrop, Principal Consultant, i21
Rob will discuss his experiences in a number of government projects and highlight the key factors that contributed to their success. From simple technical issues to effective process, from comprehensive governance to exploiting open source, this talk covers a wide spectrum of project delivery tips and techniques.

“Use of Spring in Large Scale Java and .Net systems” - Yagiz Erkan, Chief Technical Architect, DSI
Yagiz will explain how DSI’s preferred enterprise application architecture evolved towards a lightweight approach and how the Spring Framework helps DSI build better software.

‘Spring and Agile Methodology’ - Brendan Lawlor, Process Architect, DSI
Brendan will introduce the concepts behind Agile Software Development, describing the speed and quality advantages that it had brought to DSI customers, and how the Spring Framework facilitates and complements its use in DSI.

The Spring Framework is now the backbone of all DSI projects and is considered worldwide as an ideal basis for standardised software development. Through a series of conferences and workshops, DSI has formed a strong relationship with Interface21, the founders of Spring. DSI aim to raise the awareness of Spring in other organisations after successfully adopting the Spring Framework for Java/J2EE development in a number of large-scale projects.
