Application Performance Management Instrumentation

DSI understands that ongoing management of your application infrastructure is essential to keeping costs down and maximizing productivity. To meet this requirement, DSI has added a significant capability to both our architectural approach and software build process that allows our clients long term manageability of their Java applications. This capability comes with no added cost to the client as it is a built in process discipline.

Application performance management is central to the DSI software development process and is given close attention throughout design, development, pre-production and production. This attention to detail feeds into the manageability of our applications - reducing maintenance costs and increasing productivity by maintaining 7x24 application availability and maximizing processing capability.

DSI use Quest Software’s Foglight 5 (FL5) as the standard enterprise management application for all Java projects. FL5 can be used to proactively monitor business and technical aspects of any application during production, reporting line of business metrics on processing capability alongside key technical data on Operating System and Database host monitoring. In addition to reporting on key system performance data, DSI has developed customised FL5 instrumentation to record and monitor actual application performance. The application performance data is matched to the system performance data to ensure a maximum level of software transparency and quality. The management capability is built into DSI’s Java projects and gives the customer the maximum confidence and reassurance in the delivered product. The manageability of the solutions as delivered by DSI is a significant component of both our architectural approach and software build process.
